Since 1966 India has produced five Miss India’s to win the Miss World pageants. India’s fascination with fashion and glamour and can be seen more recently though its booming model industry and rise of modeling schools, which has been linked to the Bollywood film industry. In a changing and emerging India Western values are undoubtedly prevailing. Where once there would be no scenes of intimacy on Bollywood films now India is producing models for the Western market. Agencies such as Elite Model Management have opened beauty training schools in India’s major cities.
This project explores the rising modeling industry where thousands hope to make it in hope of wealth and glamour.
The project was commissioned and published by the Sunday Telegraph Magazine, UK and later published by the Scotsman on Sunday Weekend Magazine.
